What is the GCED MasterCourses' Design?

GCED MasterCourses are designed to empower educators with the necessary skills and competence to shape global citizens and leaders of tomorrow. Each MasterCourse develops strong pedagogy and practice of GCED through enhancing the participating educators':

  • Knowledge;
  • Skills (Professional and Personal); and/or
  • Attitudes/Values/Behaviors.

Our MasterCourses are meant to be ‘Open’, i.e., designed to be freely accessible and open-licensed (i.e. Creative Commons). Participants earn micro-credentials (Digital Badges and Certificates of Participation) on the successful completion of a course with us.

 GCED MasterCourses are instructor-led (running several times per year) or on-demand and run over four to eight weeks, with approx. 1-2 learner study hours per week.

Our MasterCourses feature a range of high-quality media including video, audio, animations, and several interactive and engaging activities.

Who is a GCED e-Campus Partner?

A GCED e-Campus partner is a domain specialist/expert, specialist organization, a center of excellence, or an academic institution that creates courses on technical and thematic domains of Global Citizenship Education in close cooperation with the Global Citizenship Foundation's GCED e-Campus Team.

Ideally, the partner creates the course content, with inputs from us on learning design, and we then work together to put the course onto the GCED e-Campus platform.

What criteria do you need to meet to be a GCED e-Campus partner?

In order to keep the quality of our courses as high as possible, we have some criteria for who we work with. Generally, we look for leading institutions/organizations with:

  • Demonstrable expertise in an area of knowledge.
  • A commitment to advancing Education for Global Citizenship and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Strong academic research.
  • Adequate resources and funding available for the development and delivery of the course content.
